Is it spring yet?

I've already broken down and bought gardening supplies for this growing season.  We've had two days above freezing this year so far.  That little burst of warmth has already triggered my spring fever.

In talking to Tim DeHaven this past week, of DeHaven's Home & Garden Showcase here in Lima, I found out that the best time to start plants indoors is mid-February around here.  That gives me a month left to wait.

I was wandering around Big Lots a few days ago and couldn't resist a starter "greenhouse" that has 72 individual mini planters and comes with a clear cover to create that greenhouse effect.  It's the size of one normal plant pallet and is made of that same flimsy black plastic.  It's just divided into individual sections.  Love it!

Now I need to decide what seeds to buy...
  • Flowers
  • Snap Peas
  • Hot Peppers
  • Butternut Squash
  • Herbs
There's much more to come on that list... I better have a big garden plot this year!

  1. I use one of those things every year to start my seeds! Then I transplant them into keg cups once they outgrow it, and then again into the garden! A lot of work, but worth it for fresh veggies! I can't wait to get the garden going!
