Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.

So by now I'm sure you've at least heard a little tidbit about Sam Littleton II, accused of murdering his girlfriend's 26 year old daughter and an elderly couple in Bellefontaine, OH.  I got a call from a family friend of 26 year old Tiffany Brown when she was missing, before her body was discovered.  That led to a trip down to Logan county to interview Brown's family.

Little did my cameraman and I know when we were interviewing Brown's mom and dad, that the murderer was in the room, and Brown's body was in the basement!  SCARY!  He was just acting so normal feeding chicken nuggets to Brown's 5 year old son.  Very odd.

I just keep wondering what was going through his head.  And it was after that that he allegedly murdered the elderly couple, Richard and Gladis Russell.  Plus add in the little fact that I was in the house with the family and dead body, no one suspecting a thing.  Media in and out all weekend with no one the wiser.  *Shiver*

Needless to say, I'm glued to this developing story.

Good Luck, Darren.

So it's both a sad and happy day here in the newsroom and forecast center at WLIO.  Darren Maier, chief meteorologist, is leaving us for greener pastures in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Hopefully he embraces the opportunity to be a Badger fan now.

I'm sad to see Darren go because he's got such a unique and dry sense of humor.  he's a great presence each night behind the scenes.  But I'm happy for both selfish and unselfish reasons... One, it's an opportunity for him to spread his idea to a larger market, a step up in the world of TV weather.  Plus, this means changes within our department here...

Kyle Adams will be the new chief, taking the reigns weekday evenings.  I will be headed to the morning show once a weekend replacement starts.  I don't want to spill the beans there yet!  Hopefully within a couple weeks, we will all be settled into our new slots.

So congratulations to both Darren and Kyle... here we start a new chapter!

My Latest Obsession.

Well it shouldn't come as a big surprise that I love television, considering my career.  Contrary to what my boss would like to hear, network tv isn't what takes up the majority of mt viewing time.

For years, I've been a huge fan of HGTV.  And I still can't get enough.  But lately I've been cheating on my home and garden favorite for a little do it yourself action... DIY Network!  It's a little more Renovation Realities and a little less House Hunters.  Love it!

Now it's just a battle between Kubes and his ESPN and me and my DIY... :)

Vintage Shopping.

Thrift stores in and around Lima tend to have some great vintage items.  Sometimes in bigger cities the thrift stores are either picked over, filled with junk or over-priced.  In a smaller cities, people hold on to things longer and therefore there's sometimes a larger selection of great vintage items priced very low at the regular thrift shops!

Today, while perusing some of my favorite online shopping sites I came across a vintage item that I bought for $0.05... 5 cents!  It sold on this site for $12.99 plus shipping.  I have this little guy sitting on my dresser keeping an eye on my jewelry while I'm away.  It's actuall an Avon perfume pot.  There's still some solid scent left in mine... but it really doesn't smell very good.  :)

Are You Wearing Red Today?

Today is National Wear Red Day!  As a former employee and continuing volunteer with the American Heart Association, thsi is a big day in my world.  It's a day that encourages everyone to wear red, or at least a red dress pin, to raise awareness of women's heart disease.  1 in 3 women die of heart deisease, and it's everyone's number one killer.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a billboard photo shoot for the cause.  Can't wait to see this one up around town!

PS, Super big thanks to Kellee at Creative Images for making my hair look so great!
