Good Luck, Darren.

So it's both a sad and happy day here in the newsroom and forecast center at WLIO.  Darren Maier, chief meteorologist, is leaving us for greener pastures in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Hopefully he embraces the opportunity to be a Badger fan now.

I'm sad to see Darren go because he's got such a unique and dry sense of humor.  he's a great presence each night behind the scenes.  But I'm happy for both selfish and unselfish reasons... One, it's an opportunity for him to spread his idea to a larger market, a step up in the world of TV weather.  Plus, this means changes within our department here...

Kyle Adams will be the new chief, taking the reigns weekday evenings.  I will be headed to the morning show once a weekend replacement starts.  I don't want to spill the beans there yet!  Hopefully within a couple weeks, we will all be settled into our new slots.

So congratulations to both Darren and Kyle... here we start a new chapter!

  1. Sad to see him go. He's a great guy and a great meteorologist and not seeing him give us the weather after all these years that he has, will be pretty sad and a change that will be hard to get used to. I wish he could stay but I'm sure it's for the best for him and his family.

  2. A good meteorologist is hard to find. To have three at one station is great. Good luck to the three of you, wherever life leads.
